Terri  Anthony Ryan

Terri Ryan is a dynamic and multifaceted force in the world of golf whose remarkable talents and unwavering dedication have made her a standout figure in every aspect of the sport. With a diverse skill set encompassing leadership, playing ability, teaching, junior golf development, promotion, service, coaching, and administration, Terri epitomizes excellence and innovation both on and off the course.

Terri’s many accolades and recognitions include:

  • The first woman to attain PGA membership in the Michigan Section PGA in 1984

  • Served as Head Professional, City of Southfield golf courses and programs since 1989

  • In 34 years at Southfield’s Beech facility, she has employed and trained more than 25 PGA associates from PGM schools – many who have gone on to successful careers as PGA Pros

  • Assisted in developing a women’s beginner league in Southfield in 2015 which included playing and instructions

  • Current Southfield High School Boys and Girls Golf Coach, since 2019]

  • Head Teaching Pro at Belle Isle Golf Center, giving lessons to over 300 golfers in 2015-17

  • Head Golf Coach for the U of D Mercy Women’s Golf team from its beginning in 2004 until 2018 and also fostered annual Team Excellence Awards for highest cumulative GPAs

  • Featured speaker at many GAM events, Universities, Golf Shows and PGA Sections’ events and has taught at conferences at Pinehurst and elsewhere

  • GAM Club Services Representative Award Winner, 2023, - Board of Directors for Midnight Golf - Board of Directors, MI Section PGA (Chaired Teaching Committee) PGA - MI Section PGA Teacher of the Year, 1996 - Voted 3-Time Horizon Coach of the Year after achieving winning seasons.

  

Community Service Activities include:

  • Working works with teams in communities with 99% diversity, including actively and regularly teaching students in the Midnight Golf Program, since 2007.

  • Assisting Friends of Southfield Foundation in raising funds for the Historical Land Site at Clearview GC in Akron, Ohio.

  • Head teaching pro for the USGA/MWGA/LPGA Girls Golf Program at Belle Isle Golf Center in 2015/2016 and Beech Woods in 2017…. to present.

  • Developed a program with a therapist to bring golf to seniors and adults/youths with disabilities in partnership with Beaumont Hospital, Oakland County Parks, U.S. Paralympics Club and local orthopedic and prosthetic doctors

  • Created Golf For a Woman Like You and Me, Pro-Ams which raised over $1 million for breast cancer

  • Donates time and talents to Mi Freedom Center Golf Outings for Veterans and Military. Annually gives over 1000 lessons.

  • Created/led ‘For Women Only’ local and overseas golf instructional and mentoring trips.
