JULIA BALDWIN

Since 1982, Julia Baldwin has been involved with junior golf as a volunteer and as a LPGA Teaching Professional. As a young girl growing up in Goodwater, AL, she longed to become a teacher. The racial climate and family circumstances caused Julia to leave school before graduation. Later in life she realized she could achieve her dream by becoming a golf teaching professional. She has been involved with the Tee Set, Police Athletic League, LPGA Junior and Urban Youth Golf Program, Tiger Woods Foundation, Midnight Golf Program, City of Detroit Recreation Department, and the MWGA LPGA-USGA Girls Golf Program. During her 27 years of teaching golf to juniors, Julia has brought the game of golf to thousands of young people in Detroit. Her contributions have been acknowledged by Rep. Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick with a Congressional Resolution in 2006. She also received the “Spirit of Detroit Award” from the Midnight Golf Program in 2006.
