Jean Murray

Jean is a passionate advocate for senior women's golf championships whose remarkable journey in the sport embodies a blend of championship prowess, coaching acumen, and unwavering commitment to advancing opportunities for senior women golfers. With a decorated career spanning numerous championships and a dedication to empowering others through coaching, Jean stands as a beacon of inspiration and leadership in the world of golf.

Jean is well-known for her playing ability as well as her service to the game. She has won 10 MWGA State Championships and was the very first GAM Women’s Senior Champion. She played in 7 Atlas Cups and was on the GAM Senior Women’s Honor Roll 4 times. She qualified and played in two US Senior Women’s Championships. She won the prestigious Spring Lake Invitational at the age of 70 after two hip replacements!  She has been a GAM Governor and Rules Official since 2003 and is a strong advocate of senior women’s championships. She coached the Mt. Pleasant High School Team for 9 years and was Named Coach of the Year in 1986. She also coached LPGA players Cindy Figg Currier and Kelly Robbins during that time.

  • 40+ year Member of the Saginaw Valley Women’s Golf Association – treasurer 15 years

  • 30+ year Member of the Mid- Michigan Women’s Golf Association – President 2 terms

  • 10+ year Michigan Representative for the Women’s Trans National Golf Association

  • MWGA Senior Women’s Champion – 1997, 2000, 2001, and 2005

  • MWGA Super Senior Women’s Champion – 2002, 2003 2004, 2006, 2009, 2010

  • GAM Women’s Senior Champion – 1997

  • Atlas Trophy Matches – 7 years

  • GAM Senior Women’s Player of the Year – 2003

  • GAM Senior Women’s Honor Roll – 4 years

  • Spring Lake Invitational Champion - 2009

  • Qualified and Played in two US Senior Women’s Championships

  • WMGA Committee that conducted the MI WM’S AM Championship – 1998 – 2004

  • GAM Governor – 2003 – present (16 years)

  • GAM Rules Official – 2003 – present (16 years)
